Ha. The demon tongue of my world. How strange is it that I never thought to study this language before. All these months, I have tapped into human translations of demon magick, but to actually go to the source...

I am amazed I even found this book. There are only parts of it I understand, as most of it is archaic prose, but there are spells among them. This line here is a part of our history, but I have only vague ideas as to what it means. It seems to be a book with many layers.

I have also found a Bible. Alice carries one with her and she has mentioned to me many the same beings that others of Earth have told me about - God, the Devil, angels. It is my hope to compare the two books in philosophy and to gain some insight into the religion of Earth. They have told me there are many, but I shouldn't judge.

As for yesterday...I would rather not talk about it. I thank you for your help, Kain, Frank. I hope Lina, who had my body, kept my secrets private. I do not know which is worse - fainting and coughing up blood, or suffering seizures from the split of my Eye yesterday. I have stopped fainting and seizing, though... The cough is persistent, but I've made a remedy.

...Ah, no?

Dorian, I am from a different world. As such, my definition of 'demon' differs from yours. I will not eat your soul. Understand?

Correct. I have...neither extra teeth nor unearthly shrieks. I am quite normal compared to all that you have described.

What makes the demons of your world different from the ones in mine?

Hm, well, from what I can tell... 'demons' have generally negative connotations in both your world and in mine, but for different reasons.

Your demons are associated with evil, the underworld, impurity. Possibly immortal creatures that were in league with some devil. At least, that is what I understand of it. This is what I find in books.

In my world, demons were a race of people that lived thousands of years ago, before Irrmor created the four unGods (or Writers, or Venders, however you prefer). They were the first mortal beings in Neverwas and their strength came from their magick.

But then Irrmor ascended into Nothingness. The unGods were created, and they, in turn, created the Eight Halos. That which was good was reversed, as the Eight Halos were the absolute opposite of Irrmor. Demons were killed on sight. Some fled to the forests, others to The Mountains Unto. When I left Neverwas, there were only twelve full-blooded Demons alive. I lived with two of them before I came here.

Does this...does this make sense?

It sounds like the demons of your world are what some might call witches of mine.

I can't say I ever studied the Bible too much, though I remember going to Sunday school when I was little.

My wife was named after Judith, from the Bible... well, not all Bibles have that book. She cut somebody's head off. Judith in the Bible, I mean, not my wife.

Sunday school? It sounds as though they have schools for everything in your world.

Oh, no...I wouldn't take your wife as the sort. Is it a common practice, to name people after Biblical people?

A Sunday school is a... Bible school, on Sundays when they have church services. And it's very common... my son had a Bible name too.

But it is only one book. Usually, I would appreciate such things, but a whole school system for a book?

Oh, yes, I saw his name in it... Did you give him that name because it was in the Bible?

Well, they made a pretty huge religion out of the book. I wasn't... all that religious but I did go to Sunday school when I was little.

My son was named after my father. But I think my father was named after James in the Bible.

The demon language... it's interesting...kind of beautiful. I never heard it before though, of course.

Yes, I saw there was a New Testament and an Old Testament. Thank you. Does this mean it was not required reading on your world?

You and I, we should put those sorts of memories far behind us.

Well, certain groups of people believe in reading it, but I lived in an area and with people who didn't care much about religion, so I didn't have to. Also, I was... an atheist. Didn't believe in anything, until recently.

Most definitely.

I think... well, I believe in the 'higher powers' now, but I'm not gonna worship them. To go from not believing in them, to knowing that God and Satan exist, is a huge step for me.

You've found a tome of magic here? I didn't know Asgard had such treasures just lying around.

A Bible, huh? We never had that on our world. All of our religious beliefs were passed down orally, aside from the more practical stuff that the mages used.

Don't mention it. I was hardly able to help, anyway.

I hadn't either! But it was in the library in a far back corner. I doubt I would have found that section had I not tripped over a chair. And in Braille, of all things, as though it had been waiting for me.

Orally? How would the people remember so much in oral form? That is quite a feat.

But you did. Your company helped immensely.

It probably was waiting for you. With the way the wardrobes and pantries work, the library may have similar "wish granting" properties.

There are many bards that devote their lives to learning the songs of old and passing down the stories to others. We get to hear the old tales again during every major holiday or large festival.

Well...I'm glad that it did. You're feeling better today?

Ha, this is quite possible. I hadn't thought of it like that. And yet, I would have preferred finding it in a way other than falling into it.

How charming! Using song to carry down your history. I find that delightful. Do you know any by heart?

Yes, I believe so. Only a bit tired now. Most of my concern is for Will now. How are you feeling?

Maybe the house has a sense of humor?

Oh, yes, well...it's nice. Well, all of them are quite long, but there is one that I love to hear. The Saga of Pellinore. Like I said, it's very long, but the gist of it is that the hero, Pellinore, son of a Goddess and mortal man, was cursed by his divine relatives to wander the countryside, forever trying to catch the Riddling Beast. When he finally caught it in the end, he was given the chance to ascend to Godhood, but refused.

That's good. ...Yes, that...it shouldn't have happened. I'm feeling great.

I'm still trying to get the glitter out of my hair, though.
